NDOLLs Decision Making Toolbox (DMT)

As a decision-making procedure for NEXUS stakeholders to solve complex problems related to NEXUS challenges step by step considering available produced information/tested practices through Nexus Driven Open LivingLabs

NEX-LABS Final Comprehensive Report

This final report highlights the main achievements and lessons learned by the NEX-LABS project. The NEX-LABS consortium efforts have laid down a pathway that others can follow, ensuring that the journey towards sustainable development continues well beyond the life of this project.

NEXUS Driven Open Living Labs Joint Action Plan

The Nexus Joint Action Plan (NJAP) has been designed as a policy-oriented outcome to drive management focus from inputs to outputs and boost the achievements and results of the Nexus Driven Open Living Labs (NDOLLs). It was initiated to address future Water, Energy and Food (WEF) Nexus challenges in European Union - Mediterranean Partnership Countries (EU-MPCs) through design thinking dynamics. In this sense, the NJAP depends on the capitalization of the outputs generated throughout the project activities.

Best Practices in Water, Energy and Food Nexus ecosystem in the European-Mediterranean Partner Countries Region

This document summarizes the key findings derived from the NEX-LABS project activities analyzing a series of best practices in the current Water Energy and Food (WEF) ecosystem in the NEX-LABS project partnering countries.

This list of best practices is an essential ingredient for building a catalogue for the NEXUS ecosystem in the European - Mediterranean Partner Countries (EU-MPC) region.
The summarized findings were derived from a qualitative analysis approach that has been deployed to define the best practice per each country.

NEX-LABS Joint Action Plan Recommendations.

After setting the priorities, specific and targeted recommendations were found imperative to outline the action plan that would ultimately generate an informed strategy, supporting the implementation of Living Labs (LLs) and ensuring the success of the intended Water-Energy-Food (WEF) nexus approach. As such, consecutive sessions with partners were organized that were diverse and ranged between virtual meetings and in person workshops that resembled the intended LLs. The MURAL, an interactive online platform, was used to host partners of these projects and experts in the field, engaging in discussions and fulfilling tasks required for the development of the Nexus Joint Action Plan (NJAP). The MURAL incorporated a series of steps to be followed during various sessions. The tool built upon the recommendations from previous NEX-LABS activities, implementing measures to assess and prioritize the necessary actions. As such, over several meetings and focus group discussions, partners were able to assign several targeted actions for the pre-assigned recommendations, identify the timeline and impacts of the actions, assigned scores, and ranked the priorities, by that validating the
determined priorities.

NEX-LABS Agora: a social hub for clean technologies in the Mediterranean region

The NEX-LABS Agora is a semantic search engine and a social hub addressed to Mediterranean institutions, policy-makers, startups, SMEs researchers, civil society’s actors interested in the implementation of clean ICT technologies for sustainable and resilient growth of agri-food sector production based on a more efficient use of energy and water.

MedSNAIL factsheets of quality products belonging to the Mediterranean culture, history and traditions.

As an alternative to the MedSNAIL Geodatabase, factsheets have been published with information on Ark of Taste products identified through MedSNAIL. This is a more visual and easy-to-share tool that describes the nature, production process and history of these products. The Ark of Taste is a Slow Food initiative created to highlight the existence of quality products belonging to cultures, history and traditions around the world, which are at risk of disappearing within a few generations.

MedSNAIL Narrative Labels to raise awareness of products linked to local history, tradition and culture.

Narrative labelling is a tool inspired by the strategic instruments developed by Slow Food and ultimately aims to promote a more homogeneous identification between products from a specific area, thus fostering a sense of shared identity and a more direct association between the area and its local products. Each of the MedSNAIL pilot areas has identified local products adapted to and consistent with their natural environment and developed labels that highlight descriptive characteristics associated with their territorial context, historical trajectory and connections with the intangible practices and traditions of local communities.

MedSNAIL Alliance of Chefs Directory for local products promotion.

The MedSNAIL Chefs Alliance, inspired by a Slow Food initiative, is made up of a group of chefs committed to integrating local products into local food production. These establishments have been identified and collected through a specific directory that makes it possible to identify Mediterranean gastronomic establishments committed to local products. This network will serve as a precedent for possible collaborations and/or synergies between members of the sector, as well as new commercial links between producers and chefs.

MedSNAIL Strategy for Mediterranean agri-food sector

This is an integrated analysis of the MedSNAIL pilot areas (six pilot areas in Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Tunisia and Spain), which has enabled work to identify and prioritise common challenges and joint opportunities in the Mediterranean agri-food sector. It is a key document that lays the foundations for contextualising local scenarios and establishing useful comparisons that allow work to be coordinated through strategic solutions.

MedSNAIL Alliance for fair, sustainable, resilient and competitive Mediterranean agri-food system

The MedSNAIL Alliance is a model agreement that includes milestones and specific lines of work that actively contribute to the transition of the Mediterranean agri-food sector towards a fairer, more sustainable and competitive model. The alliance is understood as an open and scalable tool to ratify the commitment of those entities interested in strengthening and adding value to Mediterranean food chains.

MedSNAIL Agrobiodiversity studies to preserve local food memory

Agrobiodiversity studies constitute a strategic study of each of the six MedSNAIL pilot areas, their food varieties and related industries, as well as the environmental and cultural factors that condition the agri-food development of local MSMEs. They are understood as an agile and basic tool for preserving the food memory of the territory, but also for defining lines of action to reverse situations that endanger traditional varieties and related industries.
