The Municipality of Prato, the Regional Resource Recovery Agency of Tuscany (ARRR) and Anci Toscana, the regional association of Tuscan municipalities, organise a series of Sustainable Energy Days to celebrate the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) in the schools of Prato, featuring projects SOLE (ENI CBC MED) e Prato Urban Jungle - PUJ (UIA).

Just like EUSEW places a strong emphasis on the involvement of young people to transform Europe into the first climate-neutral continent, also the Prato Sustainable Energy Days aim to train and motivate youngsters to reduce energy waste and become more sustainable.

In order to do so, the Sustainable Energy Days will present:

  • SOLE's ACT GREEN campaign to raise awareness and create more sustainable work environments through tips to reduce energy waste;
  • SOLE's energy rehabilitation interventions currently being carried out in the schools of Prato;
  • Prato Urban Jungle's urban greening interventions to return nature to the city and especially to the schools;

to students, teachers and families across 9 schools (Mascagni, Il Pino, Santa Gonda, Fermi, Don Bosco, Puddu, Don Milani, Lippi e Tintori).

>> AGAINST ENERGY WASTE WITH ARRR
ARRR will deliver many workshops in primary and secondary schools of Prato: team games, creative activities and presentations will be offered to raise awareness among students on the most correct daily behaviours to reduce energy consumption.

>> GARDEN IN A BOX, NATURE AT SCHOOL
During the Sustainable Energy Days, the participating schools will put on display the creative works produced by their students as a result of various ACT GREEN workshops which took place in June 2022 and will recreate an indoor forest with a myriad of 'gardens in a box', with plants and soil donated by Consiag Servizi, placed in egg boxes by students as part of a PUJ lab.

What's EUSEW 2022

The European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the biggest event dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe and is organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA). This year, EUSEW will take place in a hybrid format, online and onsite in Brussels, on 26-30 September 2022 under the theme “Going green and digital for Europe’s energy transition”. The European Sustainable Energy Week consists of a 4-day Policy Conference, the European Sustainable Energy Awards Ceremony, the Energy Fair, Energy Talks and the third European Youth Energy Day. Participants will also have access to independently organised Sustainable Energy Days, taking place online and physically around the world, from June to September 2022. For updates on the agenda and location of the events please refer to eusew.eu and @euenergyweek on social media.
