The increasing pressure on freshwater resources is generating a dramatic gap between water supply and demand and the deterioration of water quality in the Mediterranean countries . By recycling wastewater and improving agricultural water management, MENAWARA enhanced local capacities and access to water through new clean and environmentally friendly technologies for wastewater treatment.
Palestine: MENAWARA project launches irrigation season
MENAMWARA project in Beit Dajan, Palestine, harvests the fruits of their efforts in improving and expanding the irrigation network. Thanks to the MENAWARA project, farmers will be able to water their olive, grape and lemon crops with treated waste water from the waste water treatment plant, through the pipelines adapted to the local water demand, and using the innovative sub-surface irrigation technique. An additional experimental plantation of fodder is also receiving its water supply provided by the MENAWARA project.

NAWAMED presents water management pilots implemented in Jordan
The Green Wall for greywater treatment at the University of Jordan is one of the pilot sites of the NAWAMED project in Jordan. The type of green wall implemented in the University of Jordan pilot (Al-Zahra’a Dormitory), a so-called Nature-Based Solution (NbS), is the Green Facade, which is basically a vertical flow constructed wetland (CW) hosted in trenches along the building walls and planted with ornamental and climbing plants.
