Roadmap for marine litter policy priorities

Recognizing the pressing need for a collective, multidisciplinary and coordinated vision and long-term strategy for marine litter management with multiple and widespread levels of endorsement, the Plastic Busters CAP sought to develop a roadmap for marine litter policy priorities aiming to promote and encourage a consolidated and ambitious approach based on scientific evidence and lessons learned from regional efforts.
At the heart of the Plastic Busters CAP roadmap lies the knowhow obtained via the overall Plastic Busters Initiative and the corresponding actions on the science-policy-society interface. The roadmap fully utilizes the collective insights from the interplay of scientific research, policy formulation, and societal engagement. The Plastic Busters CAP roadmap is an action-oriented document that identifies a core set of high-impact solutions to effectively combat marine litter. Geared towards targeted stakeholders, there is a particular emphasis on the national and local levels.

Recommendations for addressing marine litter in the Mediterranean

This document provides a comprehensive over- view of the issue of marine litter in the Mediterranean Sea, identifies contributing factors, and presents a set of main recommendations. Eachmain recommendation is further elaborated with detailed strategies for implementation, offering a practical guide for addressing the challenges posed by marine litter in the region.

State of play of marine litter in the Mediterranean

The aim of this policy brief is to empower policy makers at all levels of governance, as well as those who advise and support them, by providing them with a comprehensive overview of the current status and advances related to marine litter policies in the Mediterranean, ultimately enabling targeted and effective policy interventions.

Co-Evolve 4BG Transferability Plan

This deliverable consists of the Transferability Plan at Pilot Areas, regional scale and Mediterranean one of the Co-Evolve4BG project, presenting and analyzing the Transferability Actions and other supportive structures that took place during the project’s elaboration.
The Transferability Plan took into account all levels of reference, from local (Pilot Areas) to Mediterranean (and/or international level), ensuring the successful dissemination of the project’s impact and the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

Co-Evolve4BG Pollution and other Anthropogenic Pressures Affecting Ecosystems Alexandroupoli & Samothraki scale, Greece scale

The present deliverable aims at describing and studying the current situation taking into consideration pollution impact and all the predictable threats that are putting both environment and public health at stake. The focus will be put on the coastal zone of the 2 sub-areas of Pilot Area 2 of Co-Evolve4BG, namely Alexandropoulos and Samothraki located in the
Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in Greece.

Co-Evolve4BG participatory approach

To ensure the ownership of these action plans, and thus constitute a suitable basis for their implementation, a participatory approach has been implemented in each of the pilot areas between September 2022 and June 2023. It has allowed to bring together partners and local stakeholders (decision makers, scientists, economic players, citizens, etc.) around trainings and workshops aiming at the development of a shared understanding of the local challenges , and at the identification of collaborative actions to increase the sustainability of local activities.
