Jordan: Aqaba takes first steps to train its port community under YEP MED project

The end of May brought the start of the YEP MED courses to the southern shores of the Mediterranean where transport stakeholders shared their knowledge and experiences virtually with more than 70 students attending the course in Aqaba. The group comprised both NEETs and vocational students in Aqaba. During this 5 days course trainees gained a have better understanding of how businesses are run and operated in the transport and logistics sector, focusing on port operations, logistics operations, customs, freight forwarding, shipping lines, clearance, land transport logistics and digitalization as well as environment and safety in addition to a special session for building a career path in transport & logistics. At the end of course, site visits to Aqaba New Port, Aqaba Container Port, Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Customs Yard and Aqaba Logistics Village took place to further give the trainees of a more sense of how businesses in this sector are operating on the ground.
