CARISMED between Circular Economy and Adaptive Re-use Approach

The CARISMED Project aims to implement circular economy strategies in Mediterranean cities by eliminating waste and pollution, refurbishing and re-using urban stock, and resetting the existing environment. It integrates innovation into urban settings and is financed by the European Union. The project spans two years and aims to enhance synergies between multiple ENI CBC Med Programme projects.

Birzeit University | جامعة بيرزيت produces this video as an awareness video to highlight the role of Circular Economy and Adaptive Re-Use Approaches in reducing natural resource depletion, waste production, and pollution while sustaining economic growth.

In this video topics related to the Circular Economy and Adaptive Re-Use Approaches has been shown such as Circular economy, Green architecture, Smart city, and Adaptive reuse of Building.

By adoption of these approaches, we can gain the following benefits:

1. Reducing waste and contaminants, reprocessing water, using renewable energy sources, preserving natural green areas, selecting appropriate building materials, achieving a healthy balance between buildings and green areas, and creating a high-quality indoor environment with natural ventilation and comfort.

2. Increasing efficiency, functionality, competitiveness, and innovation while reducing negative environmental impacts. As well as protect the environment for future generations.

3. Saving materials, construction hours and energy, in addition to preserving history, culture and architecture. It is 15-20% lower in cost than demolition and construction of new buildings. It also contributes to the development of a circular economy in countries.
