CEOMED in Jordan tries to improve organic waste management

Six members of the Joint Technical Secretariat (JTS) visited the University of Jordan, CEOMED Jordanian partner, on the 28th of November 2022. The visit started with CEOMED staff presenting progress achieved in order to reduce municipal waste generation, promote the source-separated collection and the optimal exploitation of organic composting. Wherein the results obtained on the characterization of fruits and vegetable wastes (quantitative and qualitative), and the operation results of the mid-scale anaerobic digester, including biogas generation rates, composition, achieved Volatile solids and Chemical Oxygen Demand reduction, and the system stability was presented. After the presentation, they visited the environmental engineering laboratories, and a thorough description of the operation of the mid-scale and laboratory-scale anaerobic digesters was given.
