Co-Evolve4BG in Greece informs on sustainable management of coasts

The Region of East Macedonia & Thrace, Greek partner of  Co-Evolve4BG, organized a participatory “Information Day” at Alexandroupolis Alexander Beach Hotel, Greece on the 17th of February 2022. It was the first dissemination event of the Co-Evolve4BG project in Greece.

The event included presentations of the project’s scope and objectives, the main activities and expected results and outputs as well as the findings of the initial activities carried out so far. The Deputy Governor of International Relations and European Programmes stressed on the necessity of the adaptation of such initiatives by the local government and authorities, as the “blue economy” has been already adopted by the key international players in the tourism sector. The project manager, Mrs. Chouridou, presenting the expected results and outputs, pointed out that a crucial factor in the successful implementation is considered to be the engagement of the local stakeholders as well as the civil society.

Due to COVID Restrictions, there was limited physical participation with only 12 attendants, while 21 stakeholders participated via ZOOM platform and 17 watched the event via Youtube, representing regional and local government, public authorities, hoteliers, sea farming and aquaculture sectors as well as environmental associations.
