Development of sustainable tourism: Co-Evolve4BG holds info day in Batroun, Lebanon

On November 5th 2020, and within the framework of implementing Co-Evolve4BG project activities, the Lebanese partners “Ministry of Public Works & Transport” (MPWT) and “Al-Midan NGO”, held their first info day in Batroun, North Lebanon where the Co-Evolve4BG pilot action will take place.

The meeting was attended by Batroun's key-stakeholders representatives from Batroun Municipality, Batroun Youth Club, Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Ministry of Tourism, and National Centre for Marine Sciences (CNRS). The event was also attended by representatives or presidents of Batroun Traders, San Stephano Resort, Deep Sea Diving Centre, Rotary Club Batroun, and of eco-tour operators: Vamos Todos, Routes LB, Responsible Mobilities, Colonel Reef, Chez Maguy & Hilmi's.

Dr Sana Abi Dib, project manager og Co-Evolve4BG partner 'Al-Midan', started by welcoming the attendees and introducing the projects' activities and objectives. Following this, Dr Nahed Msayleb, project manager from Co-Evolve4BG's at MPWT, presented the socioeconomics, missions and bases on which the project activities will be implemented, and also she pointed on the Batroun’s rich resources, based on which long-term self-sustainable development will take place.

The meeting was closed with a stakeholder discussion on the interactive and participatory approach to be followed in implementing the project involving the local community and all the Batroun’s stakeholders in the pilot area.
