The First Steering Committee of the Plastic Buster CAP project took place online on May 4, with the entire project partnership. It was the opportunity to meet and stake stock of the project and present the future project steps to capture the results from relevant projects, capitalize upon and effectively transfer knowledge and tools that address the entire management cycle of marine litter.

The meeting opened with a presentation of the coordinator, Maria Cristina Fossi who highlighted the extraordinary value of the Plastic Busters Cap project that capitalises on a set of 5 projects namely the Union for Mediterranean PLASTIC BUSTERS, the ENICBC Med COMMON, the MPA-ADAPT, the ENICBC Med CO-EVOLVE4BG and the ENICBC Med 4EBM. These projects contribute valuable outputs and outcomes that form the foundation of the capitalization process.

Followed a general overview of the activities of the first semester and planning of the next activities to be carried out: training programme on marine litter monitoring and participation in external events to create opportunities for creating synergies and fostering exchanges among stakeholders active on the science-policy-society interface.

The event was also an opportunity to create and reinforce synergies between the partners for close cooperation between the Northern and the Southern shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
