From 25 to 29 July 2022, all Fruitflynet-ii partners met for the first time in person since the project began, at the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Food Sciences of the University of Molise in Campobasso, Italy, in a five days project meeting including the Medflynet training meeting and the 2nd Consortium Meeting.

The training meeting was attended by the partners involved in the development of the Medflynet prototype, namely the Agricultural University of Athens (Greece), the Centre Régional des Recherches en Horticolture et Agriculture Biologique (Tunisia) and University of Molise (Italy). During the first day, the technical work focused on the prototype of the electronic trap used to monitoring medflies in fruit orchards. In the afternoon, the functionality and positioning of the e-traps in the experimental field located in the nearby municipality of Campomarino were shown to the members of the working group.

On the second day, the discussion focused on the georeferencing of the experimental fields of each project partner and the updated version of the decision support system (DSS), that allow the use of algorithms to help farmers in making decisions on medfly pest control.

Members of the Institut de l’Olivier (Tunisia), the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute (Lebanon) and the Universidad de Cordoba (Spain) joined previous partners to attend the second Project Consortium Meeting, which took place from 27 to 29 July in the same location. During the days of the meeting, each partner illustrated and discussed the progress in the activities carried out for implementing the e-traps and e-services of MedFlyMet and OliveFlyNet prototypes. The activities to be carried out in the coming months have also been discussed, in particular the preparation of Living Labs and the establishment of spin offs.
