GreenBuilding partners shared the results of the refurbishment of 3 buildings for better energy efficiency

The Region of Peloponnese (Greece) with the support of the University of Patras (Greece), lead applicant and project partner of GreenBuilding project respectively, organized a capitalisation event of the GreenBuilding project in Sparta, Greece.

The event took place in the building of the Laconia Regional Unit on 27th September 2023! The location was chosen randomly? No, on the contrary, since the building of the Laconia Regional Unit is energy refurbished thanks to GreenBuilding project, the participants had the opportunity to visit one of the three GreenBuilding pilot buildings!

 

The agenda was structured to well-present the three energy refurbishments of the GreenBuilding project : the buildings of Laconia Regional Unit in Greece, the Greater Irbid Municipality in Jordan and the Mohamed Kassab Institute of Orthopedics inTunisia.

Moreover, the capitalisation project of the ENI CBC Med Programme was presented, therefore the Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plans (SE(A)CAP) in Med Area have been promoted. The event engaged also new ideas on energy savings in public buildings and promoted new energy solutions!

 

Dissemination materials were given to the participants, allowing them to further explore GreenBuilding project.

The event at a glance! 

  • Mr. Panagiotis Nikas, Regional Governor of Peloponnese, highlighted the importance of the energy refurbishment of the public buildings of the region and welcomed all the presenters and participants. In his introductory speech, he had the chance to present the actions of the region towards the energy access and the protection of the climate. 
  • Mr. Nikos Fifas, Project Manager, Chief Executive, Morias A.E. and Ms. Marina Kouta, Project Manager, University of Patras, presented the project results and Ms. Kouta gave an overall presentation of the user engagement in energy refurbishment of public buildings and the benefits of this engagement.
  •  Dimitrios Stimoniaris, Associate Professor, University of Western Macedonia and Ms. Aleksandra Karamouza, University of Western Macedonia emphasised energy savings in public buildings through a presentation of the best practice project they are working on in the area of Western Macedonia. 
  • Ms. Reham Jammal, Ms. Rym Chaker, Ms. Alexia Poularika and Mr. Vasilios Iliadis, presented the energy refurbishment projects in Jordan, Tunisia and Greece respectively. Mr. Rym Chaker took the opportunity and presented the green building cluster launched in the last year of the GreenBuildling project, explaining the benefits of participating in the cluster and the actions taken to ensure the sustainability of the cluster. 
  • Mr. Roger Ashi, Mayor of the Moukhtara Municipality in Lebanon, presented the action of the municipality in the project and highlighted the experience gained with the participation in the GreenBuilding project.
  • Finally, Prof. Emeritus, Yorgos Stephanedes, presented the Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plans (SE(A)CAP) in Med Area within the SEACAP 4 SDG project and set the foundations for future directions with the participation of the audience and participants. 

 

Lastly, the audience was informed about the benefits of the monitoring of the energy consumption of their building and they all agreed that the more information users of building have about energy consumption, the more convinced they are to make energy-efficient changes.
