Creating opportunities and promoting social inclusion in a rather difficult historical period is the great challenge that HELIOS is facing in all the territories involved in the project. Even more in the Gaza Strip, HELIOS acts to offer opportunities for unemployed young people and women.

The main mission of HELIOS project is to do it in Mediterranean region through the Blue and Circular Economy channels.

To reach this goal, it is very important to create a bond between policy makers, SMEs, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVETs) and obviously young peopleand women through the organization of workshops and meetings, in order to lay the foundations to make the planned opportunities more and more concrete.

For this reason, last 12th October, the University College of Applied Sciences (UCAS), the Palestinian partner of HELIOS held in Gaza a workshopto explore job opportunities related to the Blue and Circular Economy sectors in order to support the Palestinian recovery.

The main aim of the event was to explore the opportunities of applying these sectors in Palestine, especially in Gaza, and share the good practices of the Blue and Circular Economy, and also to discuss the role of these models of sustainable economy in promoting employment and social inclusion in Palestine.

Representatives from the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Labor and other local authorities, NGOs, TVET institutions, and young people attended this workshop.

It was a great opportunity to create effective and efficient networks to achieve goals within a territory that is experiencing a particularly difficult social situation.

In addition, alongside the workshop, the rector of UCAS, Dr. Said Alzebd announced the official launch of the Blue and Circular Economy training courses of HELIOS next week that will involve about 120 Palestinian young people and women and inaugurated the HELIOS lab.
