The Sicilian Tourism, Sport and Entertainment Department, iHERITAGE project partner, will be present in the Academy Hall of the Italian Pavilion on January 9th, and 10th 2022, at EXPO DUBAI 2020 with an iHERITAGE Project Presentation Conference and an immersive installation that captures the essence of a land rich in history and tradition. The installation, which will be unveiled at 10.30 a.m. today, intends to portray Sicily's story in a unique and fascinating way. It provides a preview of the experiences that can be had in the region through interference, sounds, and overlapping visual stimuli, in order to arouse the viewer's desire to truly live them.

Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in magnificent Sicilian mosaics such as those in Piazza Armerina, Palermo's Palatine Chapel, Monreale's Cathedral, and Cefalù's Cathedral; they will be able to visually touch archaeological finds in Syracuse's Neapolis Park or Enna's Morgantina Archaeological Area; and they will be able to enjoy the majesty of Sicily's architectural elements.

The 'iHERITAGE ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO cultural heritage' will be unveiled on the 10th at 11 a.m. in the Italian Pavilion's amphitheatre. Manlio Messina, Regional Councillor for Tourism, Sport, and Entertainment, will deliver the welcome speech at the iHERITAGE conference, which will be moderated by Marcello Giacone, Chief of Staff of the Sicilian Tourism Department. Then, from the Sicilian Tourism Department, Lia Giambrone, Coordinator of the iHERITAGE Project, and Daniele Licciardello, art history expert, will describe the iHERITAGE Project and illustrate the UNESCO site of the Villa del Casale of Piazza Armerina.

Following that, Lucio Tambuzzo - from the Network of Castels and Medieval Towns, iHERITAGE Project Partner, will present the iHERITAGE Innovative projects and capitalization intervention, and Rossella Corrao - from the University of Palermo, will demonstrate the AR/VR developed by iHERITAGE to improve Norman Culture in the Mediterranean Basin.
