On the 30th November 2023, INVESTMED held the final press conference, summarising the project's activities and impact since its beginning in 2020. The press conference was organised by the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association (EMEA) in collaboration with INVESTMED media partner, Managers, within the framework of the INVESTMED closing event. Over 10 media outlets were present at the conference with members from all 3 target countries, Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia. 

Representing INVESTMED was Zied Debbabi, Communications Manager at lead partner BUSINESSMED, Maria Ruiz de Cossío, Senior Project Manager, EMEA, Flavia Vighini, Project Manager at LUMSA University, and Roger Albinyana, Managing Director at IEMed. Following brief presentations by each representative, the press had the opportunity to hold 1-1 interviews to understand in more depth the impact of the various activities throughout the project.

Le projet Investmed appuie l’économie bleue, verte et les industries créatives en Tunisie, en Egypte et au Liban
Le 30 Novembre 2023, la clôture du projet InvestMed, tenue fin novembre en Tunisie, a été l’occasion de mettre en avant les avancées qui ont été réalisées par les startups et les incubateurs appuyés par le projet. Co-financé par l'UE et mis en œuvre par Business Med ainsi que 7 autres partenaires, le projet vise en premier lieu de renforcer la durabilité des MPME dans trois pays de la Méditerranée, en l’occurrence la Tunisie, l’Egypte et le Liban. Le projet a accordé des subventions à 38 MPME dans l’économie verte, bleue et dans les industries créatives et 3 à incubateurs afin qu’ils puissent renforcer leur durabilité financière et leur contribution à la création d'emplois dans l'économie locale. 

«Le projet offre un mécanisme de soutien sur mesure ainsi que des schémas de subventions pour les MPME et les structures d’accompagnement. Le focus sur les industries créatives est justifié par leur capacité à créer de l’emploi. Tandis que les secteurs de l’économie verte et bleu sont les garants de la durabilité », a indiqué Zied Debbabi de BusinessMed. Maria Ruiz de Cossio, senior project Manager à EMEA a signalé que le projet a aidé les entrepreneurs de la région à faire prospérer leur projet. « Grâce au réseau de chercheurs de l’EMEA, nous avons pu établir des recommandations qui serviraient à tous les entrepreneurs sociaux » a-t-elle insité. Et de poursuivre: « Les travaux réalisés par l'EMEA visent à améliorer l'accès au financement pour les MPME en les mettant en relation avec des acteurs financiers et en élaborant un guide step-by-step sur le financement participatif. » 
Roger Albinyana, directeur général à l'Institut européen de la Méditerranée (IEMed), a affirmé que le projet vise à booster les opportunités entrepreneuriales, notamment pour les jeunes et les femmes entrepreneures car ces pays font face à des challenges en termes pression sur le marché de l’emploi et les difficultés de financement qui entravent leur croissance. L'IEMED a été le coordinateur du volet subvention. 

Le projet a permis un renforcement de capacité aux startups sélectionnées à travers des cycles de mentorat et de coaching réalisés en partenariat avec l'Università LUMSA pour développer des compétences en innovation, accès aux marchés internationaux, management de la durabilité... « Nous avons sélectionnés 15 mentee pour assister à des écoles d’été. Trois d’entre eux ont été primés par des Sustainable Business Management Award », a affirmé Flavia Vighini, de l'Università LUMSA. Trois autres ont reçu des prix spéciaux.

Investmed project supports blue and green economy and creative industries in Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon Tunis
On November 30, 2023, the closing ceremony of the InvestMed project, held at the end of November in Tunisia, was an opportunity to highlight the progress made by the startups and incubators supported by the project. Co-financed by the EU and implemented by Business Med and 7 other partners, the project's primary aim is to strengthen the sustainability of MSMEs in three Mediterranean countries: Tunisia, Egypt and Lebanon. The project has awarded grants to 38 MSMEs in the green, blue and creative industries, and 3 to incubators, so that they can strengthen their financial sustainability and contribution to job creation in the local economy. 

"The project offers a tailored support mechanism as well as subsidy schemes for MSMEs and support structures. The focus on creative industries is justified by their capacity to create jobs. While the green and blue economy sectors are the guarantors of sustainability," says Zied Debbabi of BusinessMed. Maria Ruiz de Cossio, Senior Project Manager at EMEA, reported that the project has helped entrepreneurs in the region to make their projects flourish. "Thanks to the network of EMEA researchers, we were able to draw up recommendations that would be of use to all social entrepreneurs," she insisted. She continued: "The work carried out by the EMEA aims to improve access to finance for MSMEs by putting them in touch with financial players and developing a step-by-step guide to participatory financing." 

Roger Albinyana, Managing Director of the European Institute for the Mediterranean (IEMed), said the project aims to boost entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly for young people and women entrepreneurs, as these countries face challenges in terms of pressure on the labor market and financing difficulties that hamper their growth. IEMED coordinated the grant component. 
The project provided capacity-building for the selected startups through mentoring and coaching cycles carried out in partnership with Università LUMSA to develop skills in innovation, access to international markets, sustainability management, etc. "We selected 15 mentees to attend summer schools. Three of them won Sustainable Business Management Awards," says Flavia Vighini, from Università LUMSA. Three others received special awards.
