INVESTMED highlighted on Express FM radio as an example of boosting sustainable entrepreneurship in the Southern Mediterranean

INVESTMED features on Express FM, the Tunisian radio show with a focus on business and start-ups. Senior Project Manager at EMEA (project partner of INVESTMED), Maria Ruiz de Cossío, discusses the INVESTMED project and its best practices for boosting sustainable entrepreneurship in the region, in their Friday show on the 1st December. 

Maria highlighted the importance of small enterprises and businesses in ensuring economic prosperity and sustainability. Their work in the green and blue economies are drivers in the green transition. The INVESTMED project is key to supporting this growth and impacy by providing not only financial support but also key training in business management and sustainable business models. These capacity building exercises ensure that entpreneurs have the skills they need to make their businesses a success. Maria also mentioned the importance of the cultural and creative industries as an untapped source of growth in the region due to its richness, diversity, and ability to connect across the Southern Mediterranean.

Finally, she mentioned the key challenges that entrepreneurs are facing and the INVESTMED policy papers developed by EMEA to that effect. Particularly, the need for an enabling legal framework for social enterprises and the importance of regional cooperation.

The INVESTMED Project (InNoVativE Sustainable sTart-ups for the MEDiterranean) is co-funded by the European Union under the ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme 2014-2020. INVESTMED has a duration of 30 months, ending in December 2023, with a total budget of €3.8 Million, of which €3.4 Million (90%) is funded by ENI CBC MED.
