The signing of the agreement demonstrated the full support and commitment of the newly formed Port Logistics Community (PLC) of Civitavecchia, Fiumicino and Gaeta, as part of the European project YEP MED. The actions that will follow will set up a platform for the management of collaborative measures between the signatory parties with the aim of contributing to the development and economic growth of the logistics and transport sector in the catchment area of the Port Authority network. The main training areas that will be focused on are foreign trade, sustainable development, shipping freight, intermodal transport, port logistics and distribution logistics.

The President of the Port Authority of the North Central Tyrrhenian Sea Pino Musolino was extremely satisfied with the unanimous assurances of the stakeholders for the initiative, which to start with will have the same duration as the YEP MED project (which is funded by the ENI CBC Med programme): "I have already had the opportunity to underline how important it is, especially in this historical moment, to focus on the specific training of human capital, mainly young people and women, to increase the skills of each individual operator invested in the port. And to ensure that this can be accessed, there is an absolute need to strengthen cooperation between subjects who, on a voluntary basis, as happened today, are willing to build a common strategy to contribute, through the development of professionalism, to the competitiveness of the Lazio ports network. Together with the port logistics community that has just been established, we will be able to build a global port strategy in relation to the development and training of human resources that must be in line with market variables. To achieve these goals, we will work closely with specialized training institutions to develop appropriate training programmes and establish national and transnational partnerships with members of other port communities for the exchange of knowledge and best practices. By creating a future skilled workforce, we will be able to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the PLC.”

The PLC, made up of port operators, associations and institutions, will hold regular meetings coordinated by the representatives of the Port Authority. A general programme, which will incorporate an annual calendar of meetings, a list of training activities that MoU signatories will collaborate on and a list of mentoring to be initiated, will be created.
