JORDAN: For sustainable tourism and women empowerment, CROSSDEV takes part in PADI Women’s Dive Day 2020
Thanks to project partner JREDS, CROSSDEV has taken part in the global celebrations of the “PADI Diving Day for Women”. Taking place all over the world each year, the day is an occasion for people to feel the shared adventure, passion and connection with each other and the Ocean. It is a day to strengthen the bonds among people, to empower and support women and to increase awareness on the importance of taking the necessary measures to maintain and save the ocean. The day also stresses the importance of goals 8,11, 14 and 17 of the UN 2030 Agenda.
Last July, 20th, under the Patronage of His Excellency Eng. Nayef A.Bakheet, Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority “ASEZA” (CROSSDEV’s Associated Partner), and for the first time at this level, the “PADI Women's Dive Day” event was organized in Jordan by SEA BREEZE and funded by Ayla Oasis Company and The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) within the frame of the CROSSDEV Project.
The Event was attended by the local community members, diving centers and private companies.
With the impeccable support of the dive community over the last five years, PADI women’s day has flourished into a mesmerizing experience for thousands of divers worldwide. Divers of all genders, ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds cooperate and work together to experience levels to explore and protect the underwater world safely and confidently.
As CROSSDEV includes Aqaba and its coastal wonders in its activities, taking part in such important event was yet another moment aimed at increasing attractiveness of such destination by promoting local assets.
