After the tragic incident in Lebanon a month ago in which the country suffered an ecological disaster due to an oil spill, the Lebanese partners continue their efforts to contribute to overcoming this disaster for their ecosystem.

Following activities to detect and analyse the spill, Co-Evolve4BG partner Al Midan has joined NGOs, scout associations and private sectors in a clean-up campaign on the shores of Batroun. On 18 April, 180 volunteers from all these entities came together to carry out cleaning works.

Specific instructions were given to the volunteers on the correct techniques to take off tars as this campaign is linked to the oil spill. Afterwards, the volunteers were divided into groups to cover all areas of Batroun Shore.

Thanks to this campaign led by the Municipality of Batroun more than 300 big bags of tars of solid waste was collected contributing to overcoming this tragic episode suffered in the area.
