Lebanon: ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM selects applications for innovative organic projects

Under the framework of the ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM project “Boosting cross border Organic Ecosystem through enhancing agro-food alliances” funded by the EU through ENI CBC MED, the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and Bekaa (CCIAZ) has launched a Call for Expression of Interests (EOI) for Innovative Organic projects in April 2021.

11 applications were received and evaluated in coordination with local Associated partners (MoA and BIOMASS) in order to participate in a 5-days online training course in October 2021, which will cover the following topics:

  • Organic certification: process, cost, needed documents, etc.
  • Marketing strategy for organic products, Digital Marketing, Use of digital tools for promotion
  • Food Safety, Management and record-keeping
  • Financial management 
  • Statistics

The training course aims to provide organic producers/farmers/SMEs with tools and methods for boosting their organic production, processing and marketing know-how and skills, as well as facilitate their entry into innovative organic value chains, and increase their competitiveness and market access at the national and cross-border levels.

Following this training, the Chamber Of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle & Bekaa will assign experts to assist the 5 selected EOIs to develop their Business plans accordingly.
