Med4Waste showcased its primary outcomes during the 7th meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) task force on environment in Brussels on November 15th. The gathering aimed to emphasize and discuss pivotal issues pertinent to the Mediterranean region for the upcoming COPs. Additionally, it sought to advance the UfM's 'GreenerMed Agenda,' progress discussions with countries regarding their primary priorities and needs, and provide updates on significant regional initiatives, programs, and projects, such as the ENI CBC Med program and the Med4Waste project.

The meeting, attended by members of the UfM task force on environment, including UfM focal points on environment and observers, as well as stakeholders from the broader environmental community, featured representation from the Med4Waste project. Mercè Boy Roura, the project coordinator from BETA Technological Center (University of Vic-Central University of Catalonia), the lead beneficiary of Med4Waste, represented the project.

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) endorsed and supported the development and implementation of the Med4Waste project within the 2030 GreenerMed Agenda. This Agenda serves as a regional structured framework, fostering political and operational alignment around key environmental priorities by coordinating existing and future programs and projects. It is built on three joint Priority Axes of work, focusing on supporting the transition to a green, circular, and socially inclusive economy; preventing and reducing pollution across land, sea, and air; and protecting, preserving, managing, and restoring natural resources in the Mediterranean region through an integrated ecosystem approach.

Med4Waste plays a direct role in contributing to Axis 2, addressing pollution reduction, and also contributes to Axis 1, promoting the transition to a green economy. The meeting served as an excellent platform to effectively disseminate the final results of the Med4Waste project to UfM countries and stakeholders at the Euro-Mediterranean level.
