Within the framework of the EBSOMED project, BUSINESSMED, in partnership with the Federation of Egyptian Industries - FEI and the Confederation of Egyptian-European Business Associations - CEEBA, organised the EU Med Roadshow "MED BUSINESS DAYS 2023, Southern Edition" on 15-16 February 2023 in Cairo, Egypt: How can the private sector address climate change and promote green growth in the wake of COP27?".

In the opening session, Dr Alaa Ezz, Secretary General of CEEBA, gave a brief introduction to the MEDWAYCAP project, focusing on the potential for private sector engagement in the water sector. On the second day, Dr. Dahlia Sabri reflected on the challenges of climate change in the water sector and how to overcome them by accelerating the capitalisation of best practices.

The two-day event featured various sessions ranging from keynotes, panels, discussions, B2B meetings and networking opportunities, and defined common ground and innovative solutions to foster a green transition. It featured a variety of panellists from different backgrounds, from various organisations such as banks, international organisations, business and with a regional South-North approach, highlighting:

• The challenges of the transition process, the benefits of accelerating the green transition and the different opportunities for SMEs and companies in the Mediterranean.
• The opportunity for stakeholders and investors in the transition to a sustainable economy is therefore the influence on future business practices.
• Explore and present recommendations for accelerating the Mediterranean's transition to a green economy.

On the second day of the Med Business Days, participants engaged in discussions and exchanges between experts and private sector representatives with the goal of defining concrete recommendations and best practices to promote green growth opportunities.

A special workshop has been organised dedicated to the exchange between the companies and the business accelerators. The ultimate goal of this session was to have an interactive discussion between business operators (SMEs, start-ups, companies) on the one hand and financial intuitions, investors and business incubators on the other.
