The maintenance of well-being, healthcare, and social connection are crucial for the elderly and has become a topic of debate as much of the world faces lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Elderly people have been advised to isolate themselves because they are at higher risk for developing serious complications from severe acute respiratory syndrome due to COVID-19.

The MEDISS Italian partners, together with the Project Manager Eng. Monther Hind and the Mayor of Arborea Manuela Pintus, participated in a Sharper Night 2020 round table entitled "Unconventional water resources in the Mediterranean area" (Risorse idriche non convenzionali nel Mediterraneo).

The Mediterranean is an important home for hundreds of millions of migratory and coastal birds. Many birds tend to rely on areas such as wetlands, beach surfaces, and estuaries in order to find sources of food, shelter, and nesting for reproduction.

A collaboration agreement was signed on October 27, 2020 between the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM) and the Mediterranean Renewable Energies Center (MEDREC), at the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries in Tunisia.
