PPI4MED in Jordan matches researchers´ patents with public procurers needs to address health, agricultural and water challenges

The National Center for Research and Development (NCRD), PPI4MED Jordanian Partner, in cooperation with the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) and the Scientific Research Fund (SRF) – Ministry of higher education organized introductory sessions for Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) for Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI) Pilots under the “Technology Transfer and Commercialization of Scientific Research Results through Public Procurement of Innovation (PPI4MED) project on Tuesday 9th  and Wednesday 10th October 2023 in Amman, Jordan.

A total of 28 participants from 4 public buyers,  8 private sector, startup companies and  2 researchers working in the agricultural, health and water sectors attended these sessions.

During the sessions, engineer Maha Al-Aqra’, International Cooperation and Technology Transfer Manager at NCRD and  PPI4MED project manager in Jordan gave a short presentation about PPI4MED Project. Two national challenges identified for agricultural sector were introduced by engineer Ghaida Jabara from NARC to participants.

Challenge I: Innovative methods for early detection of the red date palm weevil.

Challenge II: Ensuring the quality and traceability of organic agricultural products.

Dr. Wasim Halaseh, and Ms. Samar Werekat gave a presentation about the SRF and the two national challenges identified for the health and water sectors.

Challenge III: Dam water management.

Challenge IV: Innovative methods for cancer detection.
