Given the climate crisis, the recent Covid pandemic, conflict and ongoing social and economic instability, many young people are asking themselves serious questions about the future; the future of the planet and their place in it. Our latest RESMYLE international workshop, in Italy, tries to address these concerns, to chart a way forward where young people have more of a say in their lives.

8 Italian and 4 Tunisian NEETs are taking part in our latest international workshop, “TERRA: The future as a cultural horizon” from 6 to 19 June, in Naples, Italy. Coordinated by our partner, AMESCI, and organised with its local partners, Autism Aid onlus, La Croce del Sud and Dissonanzen, the workshop promotes in a positive light how we all think and feel differently in a society instead of typically perceiving it as deficits, disorders and impairments, such as autism, for example, differences associated with individuals and minority groups that have suffered greatly from the Covid measures.

With inclusion mind, the aim is to encourage participants to consider the arts, culture, peace, solidarity and human rights as subject areas for their future careers, or at the very least, a terrain to accept differences. “These are all essential elements to promote a sustainable future for the planet”, says AMESCI President, Enrico Maria Borrelli.

Using dedicated pedagogical methods, intercultural dialogue and non-formal learning activities to think more deeply and express their thoughts, participants, trainers, guest speakers and performing artists will build together new paths and perspectives for a socio-economic model centred on creative and social work, as well as artistic and cultural heritage, as inexhaustible and circular tools for a more ethical, inclusive and sustainable way of living and working in the future.

The workshop will be concluded by the production of a short film and the publication of a study on the topics covered.
