The best examples of reuse-related practices developed in municipalities of the Mediterranean basin are now available in a guide published by REUSEMED. A total of fifteen good practices identified by entities from the four countries involved in the project (Italy, Jordan, Tunisia and Spain) are available at the following link.

The publication of the guide pursues one of the main objectives of the REUSEMED project: the general promotion of the culture of reuse from the municipal level and the dissemination of good practices that can serve as an example for the sector and the general public to help in the future development of activities in this field.

The selected good practices illustrate reuse or preparation for reuse projects involving public-private collaboration. They were chosen due to their appropiateness to each municipality according to its characteristics (number of inhabitants, culture, climate, waste treatment typology, etc.), among all the projects analyzed.

For the drafting of the guide, the REUSEMED project partners (Capannori in Italy, Cordoba in Spain, New Deir Allaa in Jordan and Sakiet Ezzit in Tunisia) spent months documenting different practices in the field of reuse. Once the information had been compiled, the partners analyzed and decided which practices were the most relevant to include in the guide.

REUSEMED proposes to create municipal networks based on reuse circuits for home appliances, furniture, books, clothes, Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment and food. To set up the networks, 4 cities in Spain, Italy, Jordan and Tunisia will design and test composting installations, food collection points in markets, repair and reuse centers, reuse corners in shops and repairing cafes.
