During the first day of  REUSEMED project meeting in Italy, an opening ceremony took place at the Palazzo Ducale Di Lucca in Lucca. The welcome speech was given by Mr. Giordano Del Chiaro, Capannori's councillor for the environment, and Mr. Massimiliano Massimelli, general coordinator of Fondazione Reggio Children.

After the opening ceremony, different presentations of the activities carried out in the framework of the REUSEMED project were made. Each partner presented the project's progress in their area as well as the next milestones to be developed in the future.

The meeting culminated in a visit to three local associations that promote reuse in different ways.

The first stop was the Bidone Association, which organises workshops to train participants on how to reuse objects. They teach how to give a new use to objects that would be considered waste.

The tour continued with a visit to the Daccapo Association. This association is dedicated to the recovery of goods. In addition, they collaborate with Caritas in which they collect materials and then distribute them. Part of the goods they recover are also sold as part of their funding. They also provide help to people at risk of social exclusion.

Finally, the Lillero Association was visited. This project was born as an annual event in 2014. Thanks to crowdfunding actions, they managed to open a shop in 2019. It is an establishment that works through bartering.
