School education against marine pollution, a seminar promoted by Italian COMMON project team

On November 15th, the COMMON project staff at CIHEAM Bari (Italy) organised and held the online seminar "School education against marine pollution from plastic waste: causes, impacts and good practices for the development of resilient communities". The seminar saw the participation of over 40 managers and teachers from the 23 schools of the Italian Salento coast, one of the five pilot area of the project. It involved and represented an opportunity to propose ideas and solutions that can lead to the creation of more attentive and virtuous schools. In this regard, the testimonies, and good practices of environmental sustainability, presented at the meeting by the NGOs Legambiente and InVento-Innovation Lab, were an excellent tool for raising awareness in stimulating young people to adopt increasingly responsible behaviours.

Massimo Zuccaro and Ludovica Nardelli (project representatives for CIHEAM Bari) presented the activities of the Institute and those of the project, placing the emphasis on attention to environmental protection and biodiversity, fundamental prerogatives of training and of the cooperation and research programs that COMMON project deals with.
