Under the scope of searching for smart solutions for the challenges imposed by a city, the European Center for Business and Innovation in Malaga, BIC EURONOVA, held a new edition of the Innovation Breakfasts last Tuesday, February 2. This online event was aimed at innovative companies housed in their center and was attended by Ms. Susana Carillo, First Deputy Mayor, Delegate Councilor of the Urban Innovation and Digitalization Area, and Speaker of the Municipal Government.

The event began with the presentation of the General Director of BIC Euronova, Álvaro Simón de Blas, who, accompanied by part of his team, welcomed the new companies that had recently joined the incubator. He highlighted the importance of supporting small and medium-sized companies in the digital field within the framework of smart cities. In this sense, the European project SME4SMARTCITIES was one of the topics addressed at the meeting due to the important role that innovative SMEs can play when seeking solutions to the challenges faced by Mediterranean cities, including Malaga.

Susana Carillo focused her speech on the opportunity that the Next Generation funds represent for Malaga and presented the proposal that relied on a technology center focused on microelectronics and cybersecurity. Furthermore, she encouraged the present companies to collaborate with each other and participate in the SME4SMARTCITIES project, highlighting the positive synergies that could be generated between the participating companies and the benefits that this project could bring to Malaga and its surroundings. Amongst the benefits, we remind the search for smart solutions to urban challenges related to the environment and mobility.

The attending companies tried to briefly expose the activities and services they offer as technological solutions for the development of smart cities to make them more efficient, sustainable, and comfortable.
