On Dec. 9th 2023, at 8:30-10.00 CET, project SOLE will contribute to the ‘Fit for 55? Innovative solutions for energy efficient buildings’ side event at COP28 organised by Interreg NEXT MED

Project manager Rosa Schina will give an overview of the project’s main achievements and results: over the last 3 years, SOLE’s lead partner Anci Toscana has coordinated 11 institutions from 7 countries to develop joint strategies and implement sustainable interventions for the energy requalification of public buildings in the Mediterranean.

Thanks to SOLE, cofinanced by Programme ENI CBC MED, innovative methods for reducing energy consumption have been implemented and tested in schools and universities, municipal and regional offices, as well as sports buildings in Italy, Greece, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Spain and Tunisia. SOLE also acted at policy level, by stimulating strong consultation with stakeholders to define joint policy recommendations, and at behavioral level, by promoting the ACT GREEN campaign.

The ‘Fit for 55? Innovative solutions for energy efficient buildings’ discussions will provide an overview of scalable and replicable solutions at technical, regulatory and cultural level to promote the wider implementation of energy efficient interventions and energy-saving behaviors, also taking into account different types of buildings.

The event will also include a presentation of the funding opportunities for cooperation projects within the first call of the new Interreg NEXT MED Programme, with a focus on the energy sector. This call, with a total fund of 103 million euros, will be published soon.

The event will be held at the Expo City in Dubai, in the Italian Pavilion (Blue Zone - B6, building 84) but it will also be possible to follow it on the Italian Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security’s YouTube channel.

With its participation in COP28’s side event with SOLE and with its 13 projects on these topics (of which 4 underway), the EU Project Unit of Anci Toscana confirms its commitment in the fight against climate change alongside the Municipalities to bring the best mitigation and adaptation practices from Tuscany to Europe and vice versa.
