The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), TECHLOG project partner, recently participated in the final event of SEACAP 4 SDG (Sustainable Energy Access and Climate Action Plans for Sustainable Development Goals), an ENI CBC MED project. The primary objective of SEACAP 4 SDG is to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of energy refurbishment strategies adapted in Mediterranean countries.

The event took place on Tuesday, 5 September 2023, at the AASTMT main campus, where academics and professionals in the field of energy management, sustainability, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as innovation, attended the opening session. The round table discussions took place during the latter half of the day, where the EU-funded projects SEACAP 4 SDG, MED-QUAD, TECHLOG, and BEEP were presented.

After an introductory speech from Prof. Dr. Yasser Gaber, Dean of Scientific Research and Innovation at AASTMT, each project member briefed the attendees from other projects about the aims, objectives, achievements, and future plans of their respective projects. Dr. Sandra Haddad, representing TECHLOG, explained in her talk the aims and objectives of the project and the achievements accomplished so far. She discussed the launch of the Western and Eastern living labs and elaborated on how training through simulators will contribute to enhancing the capabilities of port workers in the Mediterranean especially in regards to reducing stress and fatigue while increasing productivity and promoting eco-driving practices.

Discussions about the synergies and methods of capitalization between projects took place after the presentations. The TECHLOG team especially highlighted the methods of collaborating with other projects, particularly in the context of eco-driving initiatives. Eco-driving is considered a key factor for promoting sustainable and energy-efficient use of motorized vehicles, aligning with one of the primary goals of the TECHLOG project.

The SEACAP 4 SDG final event was a day of knowledge sharing, collaboration, and envisioning of a more environmentally conscious and intelligent future. The TECHLOG team proudly played its part in in contributing to this narrative of cross-border cooperation, sustainable development and climate action.
