Second Vocational Training will kick off soon

Civitavecchia, 10 February 2022 – The development of skills in the logistics and intermodal sectors in the partner countries of the European project YEP MED (Youth Employment in the Ports of the MEDiterranean) continued in Italy over the past two weeks. The "Occupational Training" course of the second cycle of highly specialised professional training courses dedicated exclusively to so-called "NEETs", i.e. young people who are not in employment, education or training, ended this week at the port of Civitavecchia. The Port Authority of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea (AdSP) therewith offered a new educational opportunity for its community. In close collaboration with the Escola Europea - Intermodal Transport, lead partner of the project, the AdSP continues its training commitment, thanks to which the younger generations will be able to face the challenges that arise in real working environments related to import-export operations.

The "occupational training" ended with the awarding of diplomas to the 16 participants, half of whom came from European and the other half from non-European countries (Iran, Turkey, Russia), followed by a didactic visit to the main terminals in the port area. The in-person visit, which came after a hiatus that lasted more than a year due to the health emergency of Covid-19, was also attended by 34 students from the University of Tuscia and the ITS "G.Caboto" Foundation, who attended as part of a course born from the synergy between the Escola Europea and the AdSP called "Formati al Porto"

Next week, beginning on the 14th of February, the second edition of the "Vocational Training" course of the YEP MED project will begin, with the participation of ITS MO.ST. (Sustainable Mobility) of Ortona and the ITS "G. Caboto" GLIPS (Integrated Logistics Management and Shipping Processes). The course will take place simultaneously with three other countries in the Southern Mediterranean area (Spain, Tunisia and Lebanon). For three weeks, 52 students will attend a 75-hour training course using ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) software for the integrated management of international shipments through which the Escola Europea and its partners have worked to develop a digital environment that promotes the simultaneous and integrated development of functional competences of organisational management (social, human and business) based on a methodological-didactic simulation system that allows contextualised and experiential knowledge. Through this, the participants will discover the Adminstrative Processes of Port Operations and International Trade first-hand, and therewith become more prepared to enter the workforce.
