The Port Authority (Autorità di Sistema Portuale – AdSP) of the Central-Northern Tyrrhenian Sea (Civitavecchia, Italy) continues its investment in the specialisation of young generations. Recently, the port authority launched a call for proposals to encourage companies within its community to hire young and unemployed people, and women. The candidates – YEP MED course graduate – will be given the opportunity to gain work experience within local transport companies and terminal operators, and thus will be better prepared for their professional journeys. AdSP has allocated €60,000 to offset the staff costs to the companies and ensure maximum employability.

Musolino: 'It is essential to increase the professionalism and skills of every single operator at our port to guarantee excellent quality levels'

The call was made under the YEP MED project, which is co-funded by the EU Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENI CBC MED) and led by the Escola Europea. The AdSP is the only Italian partner present among the international partnership. The project aims to develop skills in the logistics and intermodality sectors in the project partner countries through highly specialised professional training courses, with the overall goal of facilitating the development and promotion of new Motorways of the Sea connecting the northern and southern shores of the Mediterranean.

Today more than ever it is important to invest in young people and their training because they will be the real protagonists of change for decades to come. And we, as the AdSP, starting with the YEP MED project, have embarked on this path which, from the outset, has been welcomed by the entire port community,

"We need to increase the professionalism and skills of every single operator in our port because it is necessary to guarantee excellent levels of quality," he added, "in order to increase the competitiveness of the Lazio port system in the area of the Mediterranean in which the port of Civitavecchia is focusing on for further growth in the coming years”.
