On Tuesday 30th of April 2023, An-Najah National University (ANNU), Palestinian partner of MedRiSSE project together with the other partners organised a new webinar to harvest learning and knowledge about Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). On this occasion, the webinar was entitled “Good practices in social inclusion led by SSE actors in the Mediterranean basin” and it counted on the participation of almost 40 attendees.

The event started with an introduction of the project and the previous webinar to continue with Dr. Imad Sayrafi’s intervention on the impact of Social and Solidarity Economy in poverty reduction. Dr Sayrafi could share with the audience his thoughts to develop Palestinian communities through the application of methodological tools in the SSE context.

After the opening, it was time to discover successful stories from the capitalized projects which conformed the MedRiSSE project. It was an opportunity to get to know Flower Land and Asala, companies from Palestine which empower 50 young professionals to involve them in social initiatives and social entrepreneurship.

Also from Palestine, we learnt from Basima Barham, member of the Holy Land Handicraft cooperative, a successful story from MedUP! to foster involvement of local women and boost fair trade organisations. In the case of Spain, Celia del Valle, from La Casa de Todos, shared with the audience “Yo también puedo” a success story from MedTOWN to give people at risk of social exclusion the tools and skills to access online public services and fight again the digital divide.

Finally, the webinar ended with a debate about what each one of us could do to be more inclusive in our NGO’s, organisations and administrations to create a more open society and communities.
