As part of MED4EBM, a project funded by ENI CBC Med that involves Italy, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan, the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) - MED4EBM project partner - conducted a Clean Up the World three days event in Aqaba, a Jordanian port city on the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba . This campaign was under the patronage of Her Highness Princess Basma Bint Ali. This event was crucial for the project public awareness component to inform stakeholders of the threats to our earth, to fully realize the scale of harm and to understand the fragility of our environment and the importance of its protection.

The aim of Clean Up the World  is to bring together non‐government organisations, community groups, schools, governments, businesses and individuals to undertake activities to improve water quality, clean up local streets, parks, beaches, and as well as educate citizens about the environment.

During the first day of the campaign Aqaba’s central beach was cleaned by the participants from different stakeholders and in partnership with ACT  and the Aqaba Logistics Village, and in cooperation with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority “ASEZA”. The second day of the campaign Aqaba’s Southern beach was cleaned in partnership with Mövenpick Tala bay Resort, Aqaba Logistics Village & Sinai dive center.

The last day of the campaign was "Clean Up Dive" day, with the participation of more than 40 divers from various diving centers and several relevant institutions on South beach at Aqaba Marine Park who teamed up to clean the Red Sea.
