The Department of Organic Agricultural Products of the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture held two workshops for a group of employees, mainly agricultural engineers from various fields of organic agriculture, at the Jordan Cooperative Corporation building on August 11th-12th 2021.  The gatherings aimed to enrich their expertise and knowledge in the organic agriculture sector, to enable them to provide the necessary guidance to operators and farmers and those interested in the organic farming sector.

This activity is a complement to the implementation of a procedure foreseen in the National Action plan for organic agriculture (2018-2022), which aims at qualifying guidance staff specialized in various organic agriculture fields and is focused on employees located in different directorates such as in Amman, Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Balqa, Zarqa and Mafraq.

The topics of the sessions were covered by our organic agriculture experts, who were assigned as part of the activities of the ORGANIC ECOSYSTEM project, which is one of the European Union-funded Projects and intends to boost a cross-border network in the Mediterranean Sea Basin for stakeholders in the organic agro-food sector, interested in converting to organic farming and/or enlarging their business across the region. It involves seven partners from six different countries, which are Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, Tunisia, Greece and Spain. The Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture is the lead partner for the project.
