International Committee for the Development of Peoples - CISP (Italy)

Lead Beneficiary

CISP is a non-governmental organization (NGO), founded in 1983 having its headquarters  in Rome, Italy.

CISP, through its cooperation with many governmental and private local actors, has been implementing humanitarian aid, rehabilitation & development projects in over 30 countries worldwide. In the European Union, CISP fosters initiatives focused on cultural politics, promotion of international solidarity, fight against social exclusion and racism, development and intercultural education.

Overall, the activities of CISP are aimed at the achievement of concrete conditions for the development and the self-determination of peoples, at the dissemination and respect of human rights, and at meeting the basic needs of people.

CISP strategic priorities are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the Agenda 2030.

Culture Cooperative Society - CoopCulture (Italy)

Partner 1

CoopCulture is one of the biggest national players in the management of cultural services in Italy. It is a cooperative company committed to the enhancement of cultural heritage through different kinds of integrated and strategic activities including the empowerment of different audiences through audience development programs, the introduction of new technologies in museums, the partnership with local institutions and cultural and touristic operators within innovative public and private partnerships.

CoopCulture works in almost every region of the country, managing 250 cultural sites including some of Italian main landmarks - such as the Colosseum in Rome, the National Archeological Museum in Naples, the Blue Cave at Capri isle, the Temples’ Valley in Agrigento - and many less-known cultural sites and areas, historically and artistically very rich.

CoopCulture employs more than 1700 people, welcoming more than 13,5 millions visitors per year.

Jordan University of Science and Technology - JUST (Jordan)

JUST is a comprehensive, state-supported university located on the outskirts of Irbid, in northern Jordan.

JUST has been at the forefront of institutions of higher learning in the Arab world and it maintains a high reputation and standard amongst the universities of the Middle East as an internationally-oriented, multi-disciplined institution that actively encourages a broad diversity of students, faculty and staff.

Internationalisation is an essential element for the future development of Jordan University of Science and Technology. JUST is furthering its internationalisation through the implementation of advanced science and technology, using modern communications technologies, networking and interaction with communities around the world.

JUST is always committed to enhance international activities, researches and projects with partners from EU, Arab countries and all the world to be recognised in the international community and to achieve the associated benefits for its students and staff. 

Association for the Protection of Jabal Moussa - APJM (Lebanon)

Partner 3

APJM is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 2007 with the aim to conserve the biodiversity and preserve the cultural heritage of Jabal Moussa, Mount Lebanon.

Today, APJM’s mission is highly inspired by the UNESCO Man and Biosphere Program, and is to “conserve and highlight the unique natural and cultural heritage of Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve, empower local communities to achieve collectively their own sustainable socio-economic development and build effective partnerships with local and international stakeholders.”

APJM’s programs include the establishment of a community-based ecotourism infrastructure for visitor use, development of native tree nurseries to preserve valuable endemic species, socio-economic development through enhancement of local products, acquisition of new levels of legal protection, capacity-building of local communities, knowledge-base acquisition about the site through scientific research, and promotion of the site’s values.

The Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan - JREDS (Jordan)

Partner 4

JREDS officially became the first specialised Jordanian non-profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to the conservation of the marine environment in 1995.

Since then, JREDS has developed from the regular implementation of activities to a more solid way of thinking and three programs were established: the Marine Conservation, Outreach & Advocacy and the Sustainable Development programs.

JREDS is working under a vision to become a ”World-class” organisation in marine conservation for future generations in Jordan. JREDS aims in its mission to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of the marine environment in Jordan through implementing the programs successfully.

Over years, JREDS has become a well-established organisation, with a resilient reputation, and is currently ranked as a leading institution not only in Jordan, but also at more regional and international levels.

Masar Ibrahim al-Khalil - MIAK (Palestine)

Partner 5

MIAK is a non-profit organisation that promotes community-based tourism, and delineates and develops Masar Ibrahim al-Khalil trail, which is a long-distance, cultural walking trail in Palestine. The route is 330 km long and extends from the village of Rumana (North-West of Jenin) to Beit Mirsim (South-West of Hebron). The trail passes through 53 cities and villages where hikers, walkers and travellers can experience the legendary Palestinian hospitality.

The organisation endorses cultural diversity and exchange, safeguards tradition and heritage, inspires storytelling and encourages friendships based on the advancement of human values and the preservation of the surrounding environment and the people’s needs for further growth and education.

MIAK’s main works are:  Trail Development, Marketing, and Capacity building for the local communicates and service provider.

Ministry for cultural heritage, cultural activities and tourism - MiBACT (Italy)

Partner 6

MiBACT - In 1975 Giovanni Spadolini established the Ministry as Ministero per i Beni Culturali e Ambientali, with the task of protecting, enhancing and managing the national cultural and environmental heritage. Furthermore, the Ministry acquired also duties on the promotion of performing activities - cinema, theatre, dance, music, live performances - and in 2013 on tourism. The current name is Ministero per i Beni e le Attività culturali e per il Turismo (Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and for Tourism).

The Ministry is responsible for the safeguard, protection, enhancement and promotion of cultural heritage, which includes archaeological, historical, artistic, architectural heritage, landscape, archives, book, art and contemporary architecture, design, cinema, theatre, dance, music, live shows. The Ministry also: coordinates the management, fruition and communication policies of state museums, to guarantee the development of the Italian museum system; promotes the knowledge of cultural heritage and its social function at local, national and international level; coordinates and supports research programs in the field of cultural heritage at national  and international level.
