REUSEMED in Tunisia launches a tender for waste collection and storage systems

The municipality of Sakiet Ezzit in Sfax continues to take steps to implement the eight reuse circuits to be set up in the municipality as part of the REUSEMED project. After concluding the research and co-design phases with local stakeholders to configure what the reuse circuits will look like, the municipality has launched the implementation phase of the circuits. To this end, the institution has made public the conditions for the procurement of five items necessary for the construction of the collection and storage systems for reused products.

Specifically, the municipality requires 5,000 and 10,000 liter capacity composters, tables, fire extinguishers, tents and disinfectant gel. Interested suppliers can consult the purchasing conditions on TUNEPS (Tunisia On line E-Procurement System), through a direct search on the platform according to the following list of references:

Collaborative design work

For the design of these reuse circuits, the municipality of Sakiet Ezzit in Sfax (eastern Tunisia) and the National Agency for Waste Management of Tunisia (ANGED), both partners of the REUSEMED project carried out during March and April the research and analysis phase to identify the needs of the population and the demands of the economic and social actors involved in the project.

Based on the results of the survey, the eight types of waste that will be reused in the new circuits in the region were identified: clothing, toys, food, coffee grounds, computer equipment, books and papers, and banners and batteries. In order to ensure maximum transparency and encourage citizens to submit their proposals, the municipality of Sakiet Ezzit has set up a web page detailing the actions that have been or will be carried out within the framework of the project and the benefits they will bring to the citizens of the municipality.

REUSEMED proposes to create municipal networks based on reuse circuits for home appliances, furniture, books, clothes, Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment and food. To set up the networks, 4 cities in Spain, Italy, Jordan and Tunisia will design and test composting installations, food collection points in markets, repair and reuse centers, reuse corners in shops and repairing cafes.
