The National Institute of Marine Sciences and Technologies (INSTM) of Tunisia, partner of MED4EBM project, which is financially supported by the European Union under the ENI CBC Med program involving Italy, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Jordan, had the pleasure to take part in SHAREMED first capitalisation workshop held on 14 December 2020 under the topic "Designing the future system of observing systems to assess and addresses environmental threats to the Mediterranean marine ecosystem."
SHAREMED is an Interreg MED strategic project led by the Italian National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics. SHAREMED project focuses on increasing the capabilities to assess and address hazards related to pollution and environmental threats in Mediterranean transnational waters.
The workshop brought together leading experts and representatives of major international projects and initiatives relevant to the Mediterranean Sea in the framework of ocean observing systems intended to address major marine environmental threats.
Dr. Amel BELLAAJ ZOUARI, Tunisian coordinator, presented MED4EBM project and explained how it can bring a contribution to the topics treated in SHAREMED, namely that of identifying major threats and hazards to the Mediterranean marine ecosystem, and on how to devise a fit-for-purpose observing system that addresses such threats and hazards in a joint, comprehensive and effective manner.
