the ATLASPAs programme intends to address the need for diversification of the sector by bringing together MSMEs (Micro, -Small and Medium Enterprises),industry associations and innovation players from the EU and the MED region to bridge the existing gap between research and innovation in the area of food and agriculture research (societal challenge, food safety, sustainable agriculture and tourism). This will be achieved through the development of Agro Tourism innovation clusters, a place where research, industry and authorities can meet to co-create the Balkan Med area’s competences in innovation of agro-tour sector. This will contribute to the organisation of agro-tour value chains, support MSMEs and producers and promote their products in local and international markets.
The main output of AgroTourLabs project include: (1) the diagnosis of the agro-tour chain in sparsely populated areas in the participated regions, (2) agrotour innovation clusters, (3) Social innovation tacticts and cases in the field of agro-tourism (4 AgroTourLabs (ATLs), that will include joint conceptualisation of cluster projects, participatory development of pilot cluster project to address common challenges, to be more competitive and to generate economies of scale through social innovation practices, Innovative products through the implementation of pilot activities, Regional capacity building training sessions for MSMEs
The outputs will benefit producers, MSMEs and all actors in the Agrotourism value chain, local/regional authorities and the participating regions so to implement distinct social innovation practices. The pioneering approach of ATLs will allow to meet the needs and the aspirations of the involved stakeholders and to ensure the appropriation of the ATLs clusters by building a joint social innovation strategy through cross-border cooperation and exchange. This will lead to the creation of the ENI Med network of agro-tour clusters. In addition the ATLs will promote sustainable stakeholders engagement.
