On Monday, July 12, 2021, the Aqaba Development Company (ADC) in Jordan held a graduation ceremony for the first batch students who completed the YEP MED training course. The certificates for the training courses in International Trade and Operations were delivered during an event organised by ADC with the participation of the lead partner of the project - Escola Europea - where a total of 12 trainees who attended and successfully passed the training course requirements received their diplomas and certificates of attendance.

Eng. Mohammed Al-Sakran, Executive Director of Transport and Logistics at ADC and Project Manager for YEP MED in Jordan, thanked all the attendees, including the graduates and team members in charge of the project, emphasizing the importance of the project for youth and women in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone, and capitalising on the significance of enriching their knowledge in the transport and logistics sectors in general and logistics in particular.

Mr. Eduard Rodés, Director of the Escola Europea, also extended thanks to all of the attendees and the project’s team, congratulating all the trainees who successfully completed the course and obtained their certificates. He also stressed the importance of this course, which was held over three distinct stages under exceptional circumstances due to the coronavirus pandemic, where all three training segments were conducted virtually.

Alongside the theoretical contents, the course also included field visits to Aqaba New Port, Aqaba Container Terminal, ASEZ Customs Yard and Aqaba Logistics Village, as part of the training programme.

The ADC has previously signed a cooperation agreement with the Escola Europea to train the youth of the Mediterranean basin in the ports and logistics sectors where ADC represents Jordan along with other peripheral countries, namely Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and France.

The YEP MED project is funded by the European Union’s ENI CBC MED Programme. It aims to develop methods of vocational training in the ports and logistics sector to meet and match the labour market skills needs in the Mediterranean port communities, therewith contributing to jobs creation for the youth and women as well as facilitating productive economic growth.
