The international sales event 080 Barcelona Fashion Connect, held March 24 and 25 by CRE@CTIVE partner, Catalan fashion cluster Modacc and the Generalitat de Catalunya, attracted interest from almost 150 international buyers from around the world, who wanted to see the designs from the thirty Catalan fashion labels that participated as exhibitors. Attendance was triple that of the previous event, held online in October 2020 with 47 international buyers, and quadruple the average of the eleven in-person events held through 2019.

Over two days, the platform registered 900 views of live content—mainly the presentations of the brands—and 167 views of the recordings, a number that continues to rise daily since the platform is remaining operational for thirty days so that international agents can consult the content and contact brands directly to close sales agreements. Attendees included 89 agents, 30 distributors, 22 representatives of e-commerce platforms, and 7 department store buyers. The countries with the best representation were Germany, with 24 buyers; France, with 19 buyers; the United Kingdom, with 12 buyers; and Belgium, with 11 buyers. There were also buyers from the United States, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates, among many other countries.

For David García, Cluster Manager at Modacc, this success shows that "the new digital showroom format is a hit" since "industry professionals are increasingly accustomed to online interaction and more receptive to using this channel to generate new business opportunities.”

The event laid ground for the introduction of the EU-funded CRE@CTIVE project and helped grow Modacc's network to ensure the involvement of targeted SMEs from Spain in future project activities. Modacc will also be participating in the virtual Barcelona Fashion Week, 080 Barcelona Fashion, from the 26th to 29th of April. Click here to learn more: 080 Barcelona Fashion
