WEF-CAP: white papers - Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia

The WEF-CAP project tries to support sustainable and resilient agri-food sector production, thus improving the energy and water efficiency: renewables, wastewater treatment, water harvesting and reuse, etc.
Successful technologies in Water -Energy - Food Nexus (WEFN) integrated approach have been analysed and catalogued. In this section there are 3 white papers which demonstrates the importance of adopting this integrated approach and in particular analyze the cases of some partner countries of the project: Jordan, Egypt and Tunisia.

MedBEESinessHubs: consolidated report on the economic value of the bee-economy concept

The objective of this report is to underline similarities and differences observed in the five Mediterranean countries (Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon and Palestine) of MedBEESinessHubs project and to help decision-makers to formulate plans for developing a more economically robust honey industry in each country and at the Mediterranean level.

MedBEESinessHubs: Mapping the honeybee producers in Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine

One of the key objectives of MedBEESinessHubs is to support the economies of five deprived rural communities by empowering and networking local people, especially the youth, in developing handicraft honeybee products businesses and tourism services networks, hence contributing to build a Mediterranean Bee-economy.
The following documents present a mapping of honeybee producers in Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, with a brief description of the companies and their products.

MedBEESinessHubs: regional studies on the economic value of networking around the honeybee products in Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine

MedBEESinessHubs project intends to contribute to the development of an actual Mediterranean BEE-economy by connecting clusters in five countries (Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Italy) and going a lot further than just producing and selling honey, considering a vast range of side products, from cosmetics to handcrafting souvenirs and even to the consolidation of “bee-tourism".
This section contains some regional studies on the economic value of networking around the honeybee products in Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon and Palestine. These reports identify the key actors and functions within the honey industries, highlight their strengths and constraints, and identify opportunities to improve the industry’s productivity and profitability.

MedBEESinessHubs: Bee Economy concept incorporated in European and national policies in Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine

The main objective of MedBEESinessHubs project is to protect the bees, by adopting a new approach relying on the notion bee economy, thereby positioning individual incomes with the necessity to protect the bees and preserving biodiversity as a source of economic wellbeing in rural areas.
The incorporation of the Bee economy concept in the national policies can impact positively the sustainable development of rural areas, the preservation of the environment, tackling economic issues such as youth and female unemployment, and environmental issues. In this section there are reports relating to the Bee Economy concept incorporated in European and national policies of the countries participating in the project, namely Cyprus, Egypt, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine.

MedBEESinessHubs: Policy document incorporating the Bee Economy concept in European and national policies

The MedBEESinessHubs project aims to protect the bees, managed and wild, by taking a different approach from that of existing policies, that stems from the notion of creating local economies that depend on the bees, thereby aligning individual incomes with the necessity to protect the bees and lead to a result of preserving biodiversity as a source of economic wellbeing. To achieve this objective, the project has undertaken several good practises at the level of pilot implementation, as illustrated in this document, which is a consolidation report of the five regional policy suggestion reports prepared and submitted for each region participating in the project (Cyprus, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Italy).

INTECMED - Innovation Ecosystem RAIT in Greece, Spain, Tunisia and Egypt

INTECMED project aimed at facing common challenges of the areas involved in the project, all characterized by generalized economic slowdown and serious job deficit, developing an integrated innovation ecosystem at local level to support technological transfer and commercialization of research results.
This section contains reports that describe, for each country participating in the project (Greece, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt), the innovation ecosystem in each specific country, the project's support for the ecosystem and a short description of the Regional Alliance Innovation Transfer (RAIT).

INTECMED - Good Practices Report on pre-incubation services in the Mediterranean Area

INTECMED project aimed to develop an integrated innovation ecosystem at local level to support technological transfer and commercialization of research results.
This report tries to select the best practices implemented by business incubators, their purpose and in particular their training method, in four Mediterranean countries, members of the INTECMED project (Greece, Spain, Tunisia, Egypt) in order to meet the aspirations planned for this project, with a focus on the offer of incubators, in particular technological and innovation incubators, while presenting and analyzing their level of performance and the factors that make them effective for project promoters.

HELIOS CASE STUDY: Best practices in tackling social exclusion in the Mediterranean region

This publication is the result of the work conducted by the Italian project coordinator ARCES University College of Merit, under the leadership of Mr. Alessandro Pernice and Ms. Broni Hornsby.
The whole publication is the result of a constant comparison with the project partners and it reflects the lessons learned from the project.
In short, the publication aims to:
• Identify and analyse people who are Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET)s profiling methodology, the Blue and Circular Economy (BaCE) profiling methodology and results of the profiling process
• Describe in detail the e-learning platform and the communication strategy, the results of the HELIOS training program and finally the importance of the Murals
• Show some case studies of the partner's work across different sectors (organic farming, hydroponics, aquaponics, circular food processing, waste management, recycling and reusing, etc.) to provide further insight into what the project consortium has done.
• Illustrate some experience of the participants who attended the training courses and traineeships in companies operating in the BaCE sectors
• Explain the approach followed within the project consortium which seeks to standardize best practices and to allow project results to be cascaded to other Mediterranean countries (outside the project partnership) severely affected by high NEET rates.

MEDUSA - Destination review in Catalonia, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Puglia

The MEDUSA project, faced with the slowdown in tourism in the Mediterranean region, aimed to transform the tourism model into a sustainable and competitive model, addressing current sectoral challenges such as the predominance of mass seaside tourism, through the development of interventions to promote adventure tourism in the region. This section includes 7 documents (5 in English and 2 in Arabic) illustrating a destination review from a socio-economic, political and environmental perspective in adventure tourism in some areas of the 5 Mediterranean regions that took part in the project: Catalonia (Spain), Jordan, Lebanon, Puglia ( Italy) and Tunisia.

MEDUSA - Attractions, Inventory and Mapping for Adventure Tourism in Catalonia, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia and Puglia

This section includes 5 documents with a detailed description of attractions, inventory and mapping for adventure tourism in some areas of the 5 Mediterranean regions that took part in the MEDUSA project: Catalonia (Spain), Jordan, Lebanon, Puglia (Italy) and Tunisia.
Adventure travel describes trips that provide experiences to places which are novel or unique to the traveler, emphasize the natural environment, and provide challenge through experiences of culture, activities that promote physical health, and excitement. By designing and testing routes and itineraries that offer improved adventure tourism products, MEDUSA project aimed contribute to job creation and income for local communities in the medium and long term. Moreover, the project has the potential to reveal lesser-known destinations and attract tourists throughout the year.
