MED-QUAD pose les bases d'une interaction efficace entre acteurs de l'innovation dans le bassin méditerranéen

The Lead Beneficiary (LB) Epimorfotiki Kilkis sm llc (Greece) is going to organise the Kick-off Meeting of the project "MEDiterranean QUadruple helix Approach to Digitalisation" (acronym: MED-QUAD). The Kick-off Meeting will take place on 2nd and 3rd November 2020. The project is funded by the EU under the ENI CBC Med (European Neighborhood Instrument Cross-Border Cooperation "Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme") and aspires to have positive impact at local, regional and national level across the Mediterranean Basin.

Epimorfotiki Kilkis as coordinator of a group of 6 Universities as project partners from 6 Mediterranean countries, has applied a proposal in the Call of the ENI CBC MED program for Strategic Projects, in the thematic subject “Support to education, research, technological development and innovation”. MED-QUAD was among the 24 projects that were approved out of 200 proposals submitted.

The MED-QUAD project aims to "create the conditions for an effective interaction between the three main innovation players - i.e. Higher Education/Research, Government, Firms - and the society".

The kick-off meeting was scheduled to be hosted in Kilkis (GR), however, it will be a “distance meeting” due to the restrictive measures imposed by COVID-19 pandemia. The kick-off meeting will be attended by Epimorfotiki sm LLC working group, as well as by representatives from all project partners/universities:

  • International Hellenic University-IHU (Greece)
  • University of l’Aquila (L’Aquila-Italy)
  • Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport – AASTMT (Alexandria-Egypt)
  • Al-Balqa' Applied University – BAU (Salt-Jordan)
  • Palestine Polytechnic University – PPU (Hebron-Palestine)
  • University of Sousse (Sousse-Tunisia)

Also, the meeting will be attended by representatives of the Municipalities and Regions from the intervention areas, where the foreseen «living labs" will operate on a pilot basis. The "living labs" will carry out research and pilot implementation of innovative solutions in the field of water management and cultural heritage. The kick-off meeting aims to set the basis for the effective implementation of the project by making important decisions for its management and monitoring.
