[MEDISS] Le Centre d'excellence Jean Monnet organise un événement en ligne sur la justice climatique

On the 1st of June is held the new Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence at the University of Padua, presents an online event: “The International Conference on Climate Justice”.

The seminar is entirely dedicated to the themes of Climate Justice and covers aspects in line with MEDISS priorities and goals. International guests discuss decarbonisation and fair energy transition policies, opening also a dialogue with both policymakers and civil society organisations. 
It is organized in two sessions from 11:30 to 13:30 (CEST) and from 15:30 to 18:30 (CEST), on the first of June 2021, and is held entirely in English with simultaneous translations in Italian and Spanish.
In the morning session José-Lorenzo Valles, Head of Unit dell’EACEA will present the initiative Jean Monnet in the period 2021-2027; Vandana Shiva will address the issue of climate justice and territories focusing on agricultural practices released from fossil fuels (land not oil).

The afternoon session deals with the dialogue building between research and civil society addressing the challenges of climate justice with the presence of researchers and civil society organizations from Italy, Europe, Africa and Latin America.

The Climate Justice Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence works as hub generating, exchanging and gathering scientific knowledge, practices, expertise on EU climate justice policies at International, European, National and local level among research, institutions, civil society.
The Centre responds to the need of bringing the issues of Climate Justice and just transition recognized in the EU Green Deal framework into the dialogue between the academic world, society, and policymakers.
The main objectives of the Centre are:
- To spread the effort of the EU on Climate Justice, Climate Rights and policies for energy transition by implementing innovative and interdisciplinary courses
- To explore the added value of energy transition and “unburnable carbon” scenarios for various domestic policy areas in the EU
- To disseminate results of teaching and researching by exchanging experiences and new tools to promote dialogue between the academic world and society.
