The European Researchers' Night, funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, is a Europe-wide public event that brings researchers closer to the general public. The Night showcases the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives, stimulating interest in research careers - particularly among young people. In 2019, it attracted 1.6 million visitors across 400 cities in Europe and beyond.

This year, the European Researchers’ Night will take place on Friday, 27 November 2020 (organised online due to the coronavirus emergency).

The second edition of the Researchers' Night in Tunisia is named “Tunisian Researchers' and Citizens' Green Deal - GREEN NIGHT” being the event and topics linked to the Green Deal of the EU Commission. This large-scale event on the territorial, logistical, educational and socio-economic levels is coordinated by the Ministry of High Education and Scientific Research (UGPE-Horizon2020).

GREEN NIGHT will take the form of a virtual visit structured around six "deals" under the form of categories:

  • Space and Earth;
  • Ecology and Wellbeing;
  • Robotics and Digital;
  • Art and Culture;
  • the "EU Corner" pavilion, reserved for "Success Stories" projects from Horizon 2020 Tunisia;
  • the "Covid Corner" pavilion, reserved for projects born as part of the fight against Covid-19.

The NAWAMED project will participate with the Tunisian partner, the Center for Research and Water Technologies – CERTE, through a presentation related to the objectives of the project and the nature-based technology, the living green wall, selected for implementation in the SWM-House (Sustainable Water Management House) and the Medina of Tunis in collaboration with the Municipality of Tunis, associated partner (for more details please read this news). During the event, participants will have also the opportunity to discover more details about NAWAMED visiting the “EU Corner” where they will find the CERTE’s presentation and further communication materials to show NAWAMED’s objective, activities and expected results.

The GREEN NIGHT provides researchers the opportunity to showcase the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives, and to stimulate interest in research careers – especially among young people. The events highlight how researchers contribute to our society displaying their work in an interactive and engaging forum.

NAWAMED's objectives are in line with those of "Research Night" since its objectives derive from real societal challenges related to water, and its achievements will have an impact on every citizen in this field. It will stimulate the interest of young researchers in innovative nature-based and environmentally friendly technologies, and of citizens on the importance of reusing unconventional wastewater. There is no water to waste.

Save the date: Friday 27 November 2020, follow the Green Night event and look for NAWAMED project on the “EU Corner”.
