The TEC-MED model has started the training phase for the technical agents of this project this November, while the platform is being tested. Specifically, both the plan, drawn up with specific materials, and the giving of sessions for the training of training agents in charge of piloting the TEC-MED model for older people with dependency and/or risk of social exclusion have been launched.

The TEC-MED project, which was launched in 2019 and focuses on cross-cultural care for the elderly, aims to provide coordinated, proactive, and multidisciplinary assistance to the elderly population. 

The digital platform developed by Magtel, one of the Spanish partners of the TEC-MED project, makes available, through telematic access to participants and interested parties, a series of tools to share information; do collaborative study activities and data exchange; It has communication tools and a section dedicated exclusively to online training. These resources can be open or with restricted access through a series of specific job profiles. Thus, profiles with teacher permissions can create, manage and deliver online training. 

This platform has been developed by the team assigned to the project and combines Laravel technology with an open-source e-learning system. 

During the training sessions, issues such as the project and the TEC-MED model will be addressed; your action plan; the tools and scale of the initiative; a training plan; the evaluation indicators; the use of the TEC-MED platform, and the care and protocols platform; the route of the elderly person, and his intervention plan. 

In the training phase in the use of the platform, the needs in terms of usability and accessibility, and its performance on different devices, will also be reviewed. In addition, it is an opportunity to check and improve its translations, available in all the languages of the project participants, so that the precision and clarity of the texts will be improved after this phase when users and collaborators test the tool in depth. 

The countries of the Mediterranean basin show a common pattern of longevity and a decrease in the social support that the elderly receive, which is why innovative models of care for dependent elderly people are necessary. A cross-cultural model favors the inclusion and integration of people taking into account cultural factors such as their ethnic identity, gender, and religion; socioeconomic factors, such as career path and place of residence; or ethical factors such as respect for the physical and mental health of the person for these groups. 

The activities and measures of the project include the creation of a digital platform that will generate an important database useful for learning and developing the care model. Likewise, specific indicators for monitoring and evaluating the evolution at the international level will be designed for these countries, and action guides and a white paper will be published to improve and adapt the development of care and social care policies. These will be implemented in cooperation with the public administrations of the participating countries.
