The National Center for Research and Development (NCRD), Jordanian partner of PPI4MED, is conducting a series of workshops and face-to-face meetings within the Living Lab activities to talk about the project “Technological transfer and commercialization of public research results through PPI in the Mediterranean region PPI4MED” targeting governmental institutions, universities, research centres, private organizations and SMEs.

An introductory meeting took place in Amman on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022 at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply offices, in the presence of the Assistant Secretary-General for Technical Affairs, Eng. Yasmin Khreisat, and the Head of the Tending and Bidding Department, Eng. Tamara Al-Khalili.

Engineer Maha Al-Aqra, PPI4MED project coordinator in Jordan, from the NCDR presented the project and its objectives and gave an overview of the living lab. She also addressed the mechanism of participation in the project, and the opportunities available to ministries and government institutions to benefit from the lab's activities.

These opportunities include the Ministry to benefit from the project capacity building and pilot phases. Also, it will engage in the pre-competitive analysis brainstorming sessions (between main project stakeholders public, private and research centres) to present the challenges and procurement needs of the Ministry and match with available patents, products co-designed with private SMEs and implement the public procurement innovation.

The meeting was very well received by the two members of the Ministry of Industry, who expressed their interest in innovative public procurement processes and in particular in the PPI4MED model.
