ACT GREEN now!

How can we reduce energy consumption at workplace or at home? SOLE project offers a good answer to this question: the ACT GREEN campaign.

By implementing ACT GREEN, an awareness campaign which offers easy-to-follow instructions and monitoring tools, public and private businesses as well as citizens can become more environmentally sustainable while also reducing the skyrocketing energy bills. 

Taking inspiration from the Big Switch Off Campaign (Durham County Council - UK) by the Interreg Europe REBUS Project, SOLE has developed a toolkit to make the campaign a success, thanks to the contribution of the Italian partner Agenzia Regionale Recupero Risorse (ARRR). 

All SOLE partners will implement the ACT GREEN campaign in all buildings selected for energy upgrade interventions within the project framework but it could be easily extended to a wider range of buildings.

Schools in Prato, Italy are ACTing GREEN

From now on, we will be sharing the most interesting stories on how SOLE partners are implementing the ACT GREEN campaign, starting with the Municipality of Prato in Italy, where energy requalification interventions will be carried out in the kindergartens Borgo San Paolo and Le Girandole (Via San Paolo 149, Prato).

The institute 'Pietro Mascagni', which includes SOLE’s pilot site Borgo San Paolo but also other schools like Il Pino, and Le Girandole are implementing the ACT GREEN campaign during the European Green Week 2022 till the end of June.

On May 13th, 5.30 - 7.30 PM, the Municipality of Prato, ARRR and SOLE’s lead partner Anci Toscana met schools’ teachers and students’ families on a virtual platform to provide information on the ACT GREEN campaign and on the energy efficiency interventions that will be carried out in the school buildings thanks to the project. 45 people attended the meeting remotely.  

A similar meeting is scheduled to take place again on June 17th, 5.30 - 7.30 PM.

7 workshops aiming to foster eco-friendly habits among teachers, parents and students

The first event paved the way for a series of 7 workshops involving teachers, parents and students aimed at fostering eco-friendly behaviors from an early age, both at school and at home. Videos and games on environmental and energy saving issues are going to be matched with fun hands-on activities such as colouring the ACT GREEN illustrations and making sun-shaped masks to celebrate the SOLE (the Italian for ‘sun’) project.

Here is the calendar of the workshops:

• May 31st 2022, 9.30 - 10.30 AM, Il Pino, 5-year-old kids, classes C and D;
• June 1st 2022, 9.30 - 10.30 AM, Mascagni, 5-year-old kids, classes B and F;
• June 1st 2022, 10.30 - 11.30 AM, Borgo San Paolo, 5-year-old kids, classes A and B;
• June 7th 2022, 9.00 - 10.00 AM, Mascagni, 4-year-old kids, classes A and E;
• June 7th 2022, 10.00 - 11.00 AM, Mascagni, 3-year-old kids, classes C and D;
• June 8th 2022, 10.00 - 12.00 AM, Il Pino, 3/4-year-old kids, classes A and B;
• June 10th 2022, 9.00 - 10.00 AM, Il Pino, and 10.15 - 11:30 AM, Mascagni and Borgo San Paolo, final event with sun-shaped masks.

Encouraging schools and families to embrace eco-friendly concepts will definitely have a positive impact on the reduction of energy waste in Mediterranean countries and on the creation of long-term sustainable habits for a healthier way of living on this planet.
