On April 6th 2021, the two Tunisian partners of the INTECMED project - The Cap Bon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the National Agency of Promotion of Scientific Research - have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of the Regional Alliance for Innovation Transfer (RAIT) in the Cap Bon region, in Tunisia.

The main objective of the gathering was to strengthen the links between research and the socio-economic environment, as well as to hold a signing ceremony for the memorandum of understanding between the project's actors (ANPR, CCI CAP BON, DGVR, SGTBC, URAP Nabeul, ONA Nabeul, CNRSM, CRTEN, CBBC, CERTE, STIFEN, ISET Nabeul, Cluster Art de la table de Nabeul). The meeting took place at the Société de Gestion de la Technopole de Borj Cedria (Technopole Ecopark Borj-cédria), a Tunisia innovation and research institution, which wasn't an arbitrary choice since, according to the RAIT, it is a particular and favourable framework to meet the expectations and needs of the region's economic actors in terms of development of research and innovative solutions.

The Tunisian RAIT will be an interface between many public and private actors who share the same objectives and focus on the same sector. Composed of the 4 regional actors of the helix combining research, institutions, industry and citizens, this alliance will develop a local regional ecosystem that will strengthen the capacity of the region to innovate and transform research results into sustainable business opportunities in two specific key sectors of the region, namely agro-food industries and handcrafts.

As all the RAITs that will be carried out in the different regions of the project, the Tunisian RAIT will be in charge of exploiting INTECMED tools and procedures and will implement all activities aimed at identifying research results, transforming them into mature innovation and promoting them through regional networking events. For this reason, the meeting included a presentation of the key next steps in the project's action plan and the day was highlighted by a visit to the Centre for Water Research and Technology (CERTE) and the Biotechnology Centre.
